SGJG Junior Golf Academy

Program Overview

The SGJG Junior Golf Academy is a structured, year-round instructional program designed to develop young golfers across all levels—from beginners to intermediate players—through progressive training, skill evaluation, and competitive readiness. Classes are grouped in small ratios (4–6 students per coach) to ensure personalized instruction.

Class Format

  • Location: Azusa Greens Golf Course

  • Schedule: Every Thursday

    • Class: 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM (SUMMER CAMP NO CLASS FOR JUNE 18, JULY 2, JULY 16, JULY 30)

    • Class: 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM

  • Schedule: Every Sunday

    • Class: 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM

    • Class: 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM

  • Coach Ratio: 1 Coach per 4–6 Players

  • Session Fee: $30 per student per session

  • Structure per Class:

    • 10 min: Dynamic warm-up & stretch

    • 15 min: Core skill instruction (weekly focus)

    • 20 min: Drills & supervised practice

    • 10 min: Competitive game or challenge

    • 5 min: Review, feedback, Q&A

Curriculum Overview

Beginner Level

Goal: Introduce golf fundamentals, build confidence, and establish proper form.

  • Fundamentals:

    • Proper grip, stance, posture, and alignment

    • Short iron swing basics (chipping & pitching)

    • Introduction to putting and putting drills

  • Short Game Mastery:

    • Chipping mechanics & distance control

    • Putting focus: accuracy & speed

    • Games: Ladder drill, tic-tac-toe putting

  • Full Swing Basics:

    • Iron swing development

    • Driver swing introduction

    • Understanding club types and usage

  • On-Course Introduction:

    • Basic rules & etiquette

    • Playing a few holes with supervision

    • Understanding pace of play


Intermediate Level

Goal: Refine techniques, introduce advanced concepts, prepare for competitive play.

  • Swing Development:

    • Full swing consistency

    • Driver launch technique

    • Ball flight control

  • Short Game Strategy:

    • Bunker shots fundamentals

    • Putting reads and green speed

    • Chipping trajectory control

  • Course Management & Scoring:

    • Pre-shot routines

    • Reading lies & club selection

    • Managing mental game

  • Tournament Prep:

    • Skill testing simulations

    • Competition etiquette

    • Strategy for scoring and resilience under pressure
